PC Games Can Be Streamed On Nintendo Switch? Here’s How

Game chaning, right? The Rainway app will soon be available on the Nintendo eShop and will allow the Switch users to stream PC games onto Nintendo’s portable platform. The app will look to bypass the compatibility issues for streaming the PC games on the console.

The developer of the app has claimed, that Rainway comes with Directx 11 and can be used to stream PC games. Moreover, it is also said to support streaming on iOS, android, and most importantly the Nintendo Switch. However, the developer didn’t state anything with respect to the set up of the stream from the PC’s end. But, it was assured that the configuration will be an easy process.

Once the app becomes optimized for Windows 8, its services will probably be extended to consoles too. This would mean, that Playstation games might also be streamed on the Switch.

You might be wondering, if the streaming would be smooth with all the hardcore processing involved on both ends. The developer does give a bit of hope on this aspect, by stating that users streaming from a PC with more than one GPU can have one of the GPUs rendering the game, while designating the other to encode the stream. This ought to reduce the lag.

Let’s just say, the developer understands gamers who rage over lag. None wants to see a powerful and priceless Switch console, fly out of the window due to a lag.

That being said, the Rainway app’s real potential is still unknown. Gamers need to wait until its availablity on the Nintendo eShop and try it out to see if all the claims made about it stand true or not.

A “How To” Guide On The Division’s New Loadout Feature

A “How To” Guide On The Division’s New Loadout Feature

The PTS (Public Test Server) is an amazing addition to a game’s post-launch support. It brings in new updates and fixes, which were suggested or encountered after a game’s initial release. Tom Clancy’s The Divison is one such game that has roped in an amazing feature, during its recent PTS event.

After an year from its release, the game will now boast a “loadout” feature. Initially, the inventory was pretty messed up, with all the weapons, gears and skills scattered around. Many players including me, had a lot of difficulty setting up the right combo of these items for the maximum effect. If you were one of them, you would have pulled your hair out, owing to the exisiting confusion with the loadout.

Therefore, the loadout is a welcomed feature to The Division and is now accessible only by the PC players. Since, the update arrived to the PTS, there might be many tweaks made to this feature, before it releases on other platforms. However, if you are a PC player and have access to The Division’s PTC, here is how you need to use the loadout feature.

PS:- Thank me later.

How To Create A Loadout

Division-PvP-Build-04

Start with equipping your character with the desired weapons and gears. Then, choose the best skills and talents that match with them. These items will form your loadout set. Once you’ve chosen everything you want, jump over to the loadout tab, highlight one of the six loadout slots, and choose to set the loadout. The gear, weapons, skills, and talents will populate the loadout.

How To Use Loadouts

The feature allows you to have six different loadout sets. Therefore, you won’t have any problems in picking the correct combo of the items from your inventory. You can just directly head to the loadout tab and select a particular set that you feel is needed for the situation.

In the PvP or The Last Stand arena, the action is fast paced and you won’t have time to search through the inventory to come up with the right combo. Hence, having the ability to change a character’s loadout will be immensly helpful in winning matches.

How To Update Loadouts

division-loadout-menü

When you wish to change a loadout set, just equip that particular set and go to the inventory to replace the exisiting items in the loadout. Then, go to the loadout screen and overwrite the previous one.

Feel yourself at ease with this feature up and running. You no longer need to be anxious and tensed about switching between gears and weapons.

Here Are The Call Of Duty: World War 2 Potential Information Leaks

Here Are The Call Of Duty: World War 2 Potential Information Leaks

It’s good news for Call Of Duty fans, as Activision confirmed that the franchise’s next game, World War 2 will be officially revealed at a live stream event on April 26.

Ever since Activision announced the news, fans have been curious to know more about the game before hand. Just as they wished for, a few details on the game have leaked online. One such leak, is that the title will include a new co-operative mode.

The leak was made through an advertisement. It claims that the co-op mode will feature new and original story, and will consist of next-level standalone game experience full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping moments. Certainly, a standalone co-op mode is a good addition to the monotonous single campaigns. Check out the Ad below.

Apart from the co-op, you will be able to see descriptions about the game’s single and multiplayer modes. The single campaign will look to take the gamers back to the Normandy D-Day landings, to relive those moments again. Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode will offer different locations to choose from, which are based on the world war 2 battles. Apart from that, this mode also suggests intriguing ways to socialize with players in the online community, which will be known once the game releases.

If these valuable information aren’t enough, there is more coming your way. Leaked screenshots have surfaced online, which are taken right out of the Call Of Duty World War 2’s campaign. The images are of low resolution and don’t reveal much about the game. However, it certainly gives a good look at how the campaign would be.

When The Last Of Us Director Interviews Guerilla Games Director…

When The Last Of Us Director Interviews Guerilla Games Director…

When two big names in the industry come together, it creates a wave of epicness. That is exactly what happened, when The Last Of Us director Neil Druckmann and Guerrilla Games’ managing director Hermen Hulst, discussed about the development process of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Horizon Zero Dawn received excellent ratings in every department and proved to be the best open world adventure game. If you had played it, you will be curious to know the making of such an awesome game. This video released by Sony, will help you understand how the game turned out to be.

Druckmann posts lot of questions to Hulst, as they talk about the difficulties that faced by the studio to make the transition from a first person shooter to an open world adventure theme. Hulst also tells about the origin of idea behind the character Aloy.

Speaking of Aloy, the character was created by the combination of the work done by three people. Her face was inspired by the Dutch actress, Hanna Hoekstra. Well, I can certainly see a strong resemblance. Aloy’s voice was given by the American actress Ashly Burch, while her motion capture was done by a parkour athlete. From these information, we can see the total effort put by the team to create a character of perfection. It represents dedication, and this dedication has been appreciated in the form of positive reviews and sales worldwide.

Coming to the game’s combat, it seems machine guns were the weapons to be used in the game. But, it was later changed to bow and arrow type of combat owing to obvious reasons. I would have been pissed off, if machine guns were actually used in the final game. It would certainly be weird, when a land filled with tribal people, would boast machine guns. Though, as per the mechanics, having machine guns are a possibility, it wouldn’t suit the story line or gameplay. Hence, the developers made the right choice of implementing bows and arrows, in the place of guns.

With Horizon Zero Dawn setting up a new bar for open-world games, all video game developers have a new challenge, to provide a better game than Zero Dawn.

Destiny Meets The Division In Bioware Edmonton’s New IP Game

Destiny Meets The Division In Bioware Edmonton’s New IP Game

Your first expression upon the seeing this title might be, “WHAAT!!?”

Hold on! Let me explain.

We all know, that E3 is just a couple of months away and EA is making the necessary arragements for this massive event. EA will host its own show as a part of the E3 and is looking to showcase some of the upcoming games, including the latest IP from the Mass Effect team at BioWare Edmonton codenamed ‘Dylan’.

For those of you not aware, IP’s expansion is Intellectual Property. Every newly produced game is an IP and IPRs (Intellectual Property Rights) helps to protect game data from leaking. The pubic figures who work in the game industry should comply with these terms and use the IP codename to talk about a game under production.

The IP codenamed ‘Dylan’ is under development since 2012 and until recently there were no sorts of leaks. However, we know nothing lasts long and so does the IPRs protection. In a latest report by Liam ‘Unseen64’ Robertson in his podcast, Dylan is a massive sci-fi inspired game, which will tap into the MMO-lite market, currently held by games like Destiny and Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Dylan is, from what I understand, a sci-fi themed game, it is sort of Destiny-style, takes some elements from The Division, it has like MMO elements. Someone described it as a ‘semi-MMO’.

I don’t know much more than that… it is a huge scale project, perhaps the biggest BioWare has ever done. It’s bigger than Mass Effect Andromeda, considerably so. It will have co-op.

No further details were provided by him, yet this small bit of news is good enough to break the silence to the fans. By the sound of it, it would attempt to take control of both single player gameplay and the MMO arena at the same time. With elements from both Destiny and The Division, Dylan might be the grandest game of them all.

The game will be revealed at the E3 and will be released sometime next year.

From Soldiers To Players – Battlefield 1’s Glitch Nightmares

From Soldiers To Players – Battlefield 1’s Glitch Nightmares

It is often said, that soldiers on the battlefields have nightmares about the wars. But, none would have guessed it’ll have the same effect on Battlefield 1’s players too. A quite popular glitch in the game is inflicting such horrific experiences for the gamers. It is all because of a violent plunge of a player, across the map.

Check out this gif.

battlefield-1-glitch-nightmare-gif

Initially, the player is seen in a cloud of yellow fog. This might be due to the gas grenade. Once out of the fog, a target is seen at the top of a cliff. At the first zoom in, there is just that one target. But, at the first zoom out, another man is seen standing beside the previous one.

To clear the doubts, the player zooms in again for the second time and doesn’t find the standing man on the cliff. Then, a third zoom in finds the standing man still visible, unlike the first two attempts. But, a third zoom out pulls the targeted man straight back at the player. The target is seen shooting through the air, in an unexpected turn of events, and he stabs the player for the kill.

Any person playing this part of the game in the depths of the night, all alone, would have certainly felt an increase in their heartrates.

The simple explanation is that the figure on the ridge, lagged a bit and the server readjusted their position, but there are several inconsistencies. However, since there is no official explanation of the glitch from DICE, players are filled with doubts and questions for the frequent occurence of this glitch.

Battlefield 1’s greatest advantage over other FPS, is its visual features. DICE went to the extent of creating a mode called Fog of War, to provide a fog based gameplay experience for the players. But, many feel that DICE literally took the Fog of War to the next level by implementing scary moments like these.

Lighter moments aside, DICE has to address this glitch soon and let the players feel safe again.

Mass Effect Andromeda Has Starting Problems On PC

Mass Effect Andromeda Has Starting Problems On PC

Previously, Mass Effect Andromeda had a lot of issues in it that Bioware launched a massive update to fix them all. However, there seems to be another problem in effect, following the update. PC gamers found that the update prevents the game from launching.

The cause for the game’s starting problems is not known, and the solutions given for it on EA’s support page seems to not be of any help. For the time being, Bioware has suggested some workarounds for gamers who can’t launch the game on their PCs.

mass-effect-andromeda-pc-help-740x244

From my perspective, these pointers don’t even look like proper solutions. This is like every other tech support, who says “try switching it off and on”, when there is a problem. It looks as though, Bioware isn’t taking this situation seriously. Fans and gamers are outrageous due to this, and if a proper solution isn’t given, Bioware might even end up losing a part of their fan base.

With the game being released very recently, issues like this should have been foreseen and rectified before launching the update. Though problems are bound to happen, given the worst case scenario, it is important to provide relevant solutions and fix the crash. Let’s hope, Bioware solves it.

Here Are All The Technical Details You Should Know On Project Scorpio

Here Are All The Technical Details You Should Know On Project Scorpio

Recently, Digital Foundry was invited by Microsoft for an exclusive preview on the technical details of the next Xbox console, Project Scorpio. The technical specs revealed are just expected numbers to be delivered at the console’s launch and doesn’t represent the final product. The reason behind it, is Microsoft’s aim is not just about performance, but also to push the quality of the console design to the next level.

The Highlights

Microsoft set a design target for Project Scorpio at last year’s E3 event and has achieved it by combining smart design with horsepower, to result in a performance that boasts six tera-flops. This was achieved by pairing the GPU with 12GB of GDDR5 memory and a custom eight-core CPU and entire setup is housed in a compact body with integrated power supply.

Performance-wise, they did a remarkable job when Forza Motorsport demo was able to run at an easy 60FPS in native 4K and also at Xbox One equivalent settings. This will only lead to prove, that Scorpio will have some power left to focus on more visual improvments, while it still hits the native 4K target. Microsoft is also addressing the 1080p users, to make sure all game modes are available to them.

The Technical Specs Of Project Scorpio

Let’s compare the specs between Scorpop, Xbox One and PS4 Pro.

Project Scorpio Xbox One PS4 Pro
CPU Eight custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz Eight custom Jaguar cores clocked at 1.75GHz Eight Jaguar cores clocked at 2.1GHz
GPU 40 customised compute units at 1172MHz 12 GCN compute units at 853MHz (Xbox One S: 914MHz) 36 improved GCN compute units at 911MHz
Memory 12GB GDDR5 8GB DDR3/32MB ESRAM 8GB GDDR5
Memory Bandwidth 326GB/s DDR3: 68GB/s, ESRAM at max 204GB/s (Xbox One S: 219GB/s) 218GB/s
Hard Drive 1TB 2.5-inch 500GB/1TB/2TB 2.5-inch 1TB 2.5-inch
Optical Drive 4K UHD Blu-ray Blu-ray (Xbox One S: 4K UHD) Blu-ray

As you can see, Scorpio tops in every aspect of the game. The amount of deep research put behind it is overwhelming.

Hardware Aspects – How And Why

Bandwidth

For 4K resolution, textures will be larger and subsequently, the render targets will be larger as well. Hence, more space and bandwidth are requried. For this purpose, Microsoft implemented the SoC design with AMD architecture.

The core of the Scorpio console comprises of the new System On Chip (SoC) design, which involves all the hardware components integrated on to a single chip. The SoC is the state-of-art of micro and nano technology today, and has already been implemented in the Scorpio. This architecture will allow more space to house more chips, and hence multiple GPUs and memory components. The result of that is improved frame rates, increased memory, bandwidth and higher clock speed. Scorpio has a 384-bit GDDR5 interface, that uses 12 32-bit channels, allowing the frequency to run at 6.8GHz and offering a amazingly high bandwidth of 326GB/s, thereby achieving the 4K.

Backwards Compatibility

Aside from the bandwidth, Scorpio comprises of eight cores, organised as two clusters with a total of 4MB of L2 cache. This will enable the Scorpio’s CPU to run at 2.3GHz, which is an ultimate attempt to still maintain the backwards comaptibility with Xbox One and Xbox One S while pushing up the performance limits.

scorpio

Hardware Off-load

While there is a significant hardware off-loading due to the SoC, the audio processor in Xbox One is fully transplanted across to Scorpio and is set to receive support for Dolby Atmos for gaming, Dolby Atmos for headphones plus a Microsoft proprietary format called HRTF. Another advantage of hardware off-loading is the speed of instructions, that are executed. Generally, the GPU consumes thousands of instructions from the CPU on what has to be drawn on screen. With Scorpio’s hardware offload, any draw call can be executed with just 11 instructions, and just nine for a state change. This will cut the CPU render to half of its original amount. The result due to this, is greater communication between CPU and the graphics unit, enabling a smoother visual experience.

Form Factor And Cooling

scorpio2

The voltages of each of the chips are tuned to optimise them to reach the goals of cooling efficiencies. Adjusting the voltage would mean to get rid of the power wastage in the form of heat loss. Your system heats up due to this reason and Microsoft has found a way to cut short this problem. The technique used is called Horvis method where each chip will have a specific power profile. The usual configurations will involve adopting a single chip size for the entire circuit board. But this method involves resizing the board to match the profiles of the chips. This will reduce the dissipation of power in the form of heat and will keep the system cool.

Games Upscaling

A developer tool called PIX (Performance Inspector for Xbox) was used to run analysis on Scorpio’s GPU.  The analysis data provided by PIX was fed into a hardware emulator, which later revealed the least specifications a game requires to run on Scorpio. These results proved that games, that can run at 900p and above, can easily run at 4K. The most amazing factor behind this information, is that Scorpio’s SoC design and AMD architecture helps the existing titles to scale up to 4K performance. This means, all hardwares which fall under this category, such as CU, clock speed, bandwidth, renders, shader engines and cache size, can be tweaked and configured to meet the 4K performance.

Hence, Microsoft will be able to configure the exisiting Xbox One games to make them playable at 4K on Scorpio.

That being said, it’ll be exciting and interesting to see the stats of the final product. As mentioned earlier, Microsoft will not stop from improvising the specs until the console’s final launch.

Will Red Dead Redemption 2 Have 4K Resolution Support Of Project Scorpio?

Will Red Dead Redemption 2 Have 4K Resolution Support Of Project Scorpio?

With Red Dead Redemption 2 set for release this fall 2017, Rockstar Games announced that the most anticipated wild west game will boast the advantages of 4K resolution, as a part of Microsoft’s upcoming console Project Scorpio.

The 4K support is one of the main features of Project Scorpio and Microsoft hasn’t revealed all the games which will receive its support. For now, the two games that’ll have the 4K advantage are Red Dead Redemption and Star Wars Battlefront 2. However, these two games are third party titles, while Microsoft already has a list of first-party titles that will receive the same 4K support.

Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2 and Forza Motorsport 7 are few of the first party titles at hand and it’ll be interesting to see how all of these games will perform with the new hardware capabilities of Project Scorpio.

As for Red Dead Redemption, things are looking good with the confirmed 4K support and late fall release. Being the most aniticipated game of the year, the fans have become more enthusiastic with this announcement.

Bethesda Releases GamePlay Footage On Quake Champions

Bethesda Releases GamePlay Footage On Quake Champions

The name “Quake 3 Arena” brings back loads of memories. For many mid-aged gamers today, it was one of their favourite childhood FPS games. The words “frag”, “quad damage” and “gauntlet” became more familiar among the kids, through this game.

For those of you not aware, Bethesda is currently in the process of creating another Quake game called, Quake Champions.Recently, the company released a gameplay footage of its latest project, which features prominent competitive Quake player ZeRo4. The video is unedited and brings the gameplay, exactly as it is.

The video shows ZeRo4 playing a champion known as Anarki. Anarki is an Arena Lord from the good ol’ Quake 3 Arena. His main ability is called Injection, which allows him to heal himself and boost his maximum health. His passive ability increases his strafe-jump movement speed and mid-air control to bunny hop.

The arena used in the game is named Blood Covenant. Quake fans can notice some features that resemble designs from older maps like Campgrounds. It is loaded with vertical columns, balconies, tunnels, pillars, and a bridge that brings people together… for a frag or two, I mean.

Quake Champions will be a PC exclusive game and Bethesda released this trailer to announce the game’s first major tournament. The tournament will happen at Quakecon in Dallas. There isn’t any other detail about this tournament but it might happen soon after the game’s official release.

April 6 marks the beginning of Quake Champions’ closed beta and it will run through the weekend. As for now, Bethesda hasn’t decided on the game’s official launch yet.
