We all know that Twitch is a service that gamers use for streaming. When it was thought, that streaming was the only option in the platform, Twitch turned the tables and announced that it will allow viewers to purchase games directly from streamers’ pages starting spring 2017.
When you have bought your game, it can be launched through Twitch’s own desktop program, or through publisher-led applications such as Ubisoft’s Uplay. After this process, the consumers will be rewarded with Twitch crates which may include random items such as exclusive emotes, chat badges, and so on.
And that’s not all, if you buy games from a streamer you partnered with, that person will get a 5% cut from the sales and the developer receives 70%. Publishers already signed up to the scheme include Ubisoft, Telltale Games, Paradox Interactive, Hi-Rez Studios, and more.
Amazon is trying to monetize Twitch through a number of ways and this is one of them.
